Participant: An individual who may be enrolled in a campaign. Participants may be patients, research subjects, students; anyone who will participate in the workflows associated to a campaign.
Population: A set of participants who may be enrolled across one or multiple campaigns.
User: An individual with a platform account responsible for tracking and managing participants within campaigns.
User Group: A group of users who may be assigned as responsible for completing designated Tasks within a workflow.
Campaign: A defined set of workflows, steps and tasks through which participants in a population will progress.
Workflow: Within a campaign, a workflow defines a set of steps and tasks through which participants will progress. A campaign may contain one or more workflows.
Step: Within a workflow, a step contains a task or set of tasks to be completed prior to moving on to a subsequent Step.
Task: Tasks are items that must be completed by a user or a participant. Tasks are everything that must be tracked within a Step. Tasks can be one of 5 types: Activities, Custom Tasks, Email, Phone, or Mail
Activity: A tool used to collect or display information to a participant, such as a survey taken by the participant, or video content displayed to a participant. . When the activity is a survey, it has associated emails to be used for invitations, reminders, and thank yous.
Custom: A task that does not fall into any of the other types. Can be used for any campaign event that must be tracked, such as participant reimbursement.
Email: An email to be sent to the participant or to a user/user group. This type of task is not utilized for Activity invitation, reminders, and thank yous, but rather for other emailed communications.
Phone: A task for a user or user group to indicate that a phone call is needed.
Mail: A task for a user or user group to indicate that a mailing is needed.
Due Date: The date by which a task should be completed. The due date is not “hard”, in that failing to complete a task by the due date will not cause the task to become unavailable.
Assigned To: When a task is assigned, it means that the person(s) who should complete that task have been designated. Tasks can be assigned to the participant, a specific user, or to a user group
Participant Field: A field of information associated to a participant, such as their name or email address.
Status: Every task, step and workflow has associated statuses that communicate the progression from not being started to being complete. There are default statuses associated to each of these campaign components and users may create custom status reasons to use in association to a status to better communicate the state of an item:
Not Started: No action has been taken on the campaign item
In Progress: Actions have been started on the campaign item
Complete: All actions are complete on the campaign item
Incomplete: No further actions will be taken on the campaign item, but the campaign item is not complete
Modal: A window that appears within the context of the application’s main window, typically to confirm an action or to collect new information.
Partial Submission: An Activity session in which authentication has occurred, but the Submit button has not been clicked.
Completed Submission: An Activity session in which the Submit button has been clicked.
Terminated Submission: An Activity session in which a Jump utilized within the Activity set the submission to a status of “terminated”. This is typically used for screeners/qualifiers that are implemented to determine if the Activity session should be discontinued.
Structured Data: Quantitative, non-verbatim data.
Unstructured Data: Qualitative verbatim data.
PHI: Protected Health Information. This is individually identifiable health information that relates to an individual’s mental or physical condition, provision of healthcare, and payment for healthcare.
PII: Personally Identifiable Information. This is information that can be used to distinguish or trace an individual’s identity, such as their name, social security number, race, etc.
